Following last weeks AGM held on Thursday 7th December, we are having to review licence and match pricing.
Like many we have had to review our pricing and what pegs we book for matches.
Club licences are having to increase by £1 to £16, this is the first increase since 2009.
Matches and pegs last year we booked 20 pegs, and on occasion we never got twenty fishing which cost the club £400+ so we are amending our booking policy.

Pools booked for 2024 are for 15 pegs, should we get over subscribed then we may be able to negotiate with the venue(s), this should prevent any significant financial loss. Booking is first come first served.
We propose to create a WhatsApp group for our match anglers to book on matches. Payment on match day as usual by card/contactless. Need to check we have mobile numbers for all match anglers, and if each of you could download WhatsApp if you haven’t got it, that would be great.

Booking is essential, please don’t just turn up on the day as we cannot guarantee a peg for you.

If we don’t have 15 pegs full by Wednesday prior to match we will offer any remaining pegs to guests (of a member).

With regard to match pricing, that too has to be increased:-
Match and section win price will increase from £15 to £16 (£17 for Partridge Lakes)
Match, Section and Superpools price will increase from £20 to £21 (£22 for Partridge Lakes)
We hope members and our match anglers understand that none of the above is out of choice but necessary to continue to run the club without losing money.

We also welcomed back John Bryan brother of James who has been on a sabbatical for several years (Marriage, Kids) and in his one match managed to win a section. He's hoping for the same in 2024.

Congrats also to our Midweek League winner this year Jeff Dobson who has fished well throughout the season and has well earned the title.

A quick note of thanks to long time club member Brian Gort, who on Friday 7th July selflessly spent several hours strimming the fishing platforms at our Brownlee's Pool, and also cleared away a pile of litter left by idiots who had been camping around the pool leaving beer bottles and crap.
There is a perfectly good waste bin provided by the council adjacent to the pool

Club Meeting tonight at Hoop & Mallet pub, Callands at 8pm.

Just a reminder for match fees which were discussed at the AGM in December.
This year it has been agreed that the previous payouts were too 'watered down' to be worth winning on low turnout matches.
Matches are now £15 (£10 peg fee + £5 section) and we will be paying sections. For example, if we get 15 anglers we will payout 3 sections of 5 at £25 per section.
There will also be a £5 'superpool' which is completely optional.
This will be a winner takes all, unless there are enough in it to make it worth paying more places.
NOTE: SUPERPOOLS WINNER WILL ALSO WIN SECTION MONEY

Further to our sad note regarding the passing of club member Peter Newton.
We can now advise that the funeral service will take place at St Peters Church, Woolston on Wednesday 15th March at 11:30am, with the committal taking place at 12:40pm at Walton Lea Crematorium. There will be a wake at Monks Sports Club, Woolston after the Crematorium.

It is with great sadness we announce that our friend and club member Peter Newton passed away peacefully yesterday.
Peter was 76 and had been ill for quite a while and was only able to fish one match with us in 2022.
We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to Peters wife Kath, sons Mark, Dave and Mike and all their families.
Peter joined us in 2016 primarily for the midweek matches we had recently started. He did so well he won the midweek league that very year, and was second the following two years.
In the following year Peter also got involved with our weekend matches.
I'll always remember Peter for thinking of others, he always asked how I was particularly after my cancer treatment, and having bankside conversations about his time away in the caravan. Also the friendly fishing between himself and his son Dave.

Members wishing to fish from 16th March onwards, you will require this licence to fish our waters and or matches.
The current 2022-23 licence expires on 15th March 2023
