Last match of the year and last match of the 2009 Winter League and the winner of the league was decided by a gnat's whisker. It will also be a shock as a quick 'on the bank' calculation was wrong and the final maths has shown that the points after this match were equal for the Winter League, both James and Kev finished on 44 points, so the league had to be decided on weight. The winner was James who during the Winter League has caught in total 71lb 3oz 7drm, beating Kev who had 58lb 8oz 13drm. Congratulations to James for his Winter League 2009 win and devastating for Kev finishing runner up, when for most of today thought as we all did that he had won.
As far as this match was concerned, Alan was the clear winner with 2lb 0oz 2drm followed by Ray in 2nd and Roly in 3rd.
Today's unlucky Golden Peg was Kev Smith, who has seen his world fall apart today, but there's always next years matches, it will be all to play for, and if the Winter League is anything to go by, it will be down to the wire.
Roly is starting to hit some form as this is the second match on the run finishing in Third place. Hard luck to Paul Roby who managed to sit on his No4 Section which will mean a 'letter to Santa'!
Congratulations to everyone who fished the match and the league, that's it for 2009, we are back again with the Spring League on 17th April, when we will be at Border Fishery near Crewe. Wishing all of our members and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, see you in 2010...
