Last match in this years Winter League and our last match for 2012.
This was our Fur & Feather match held, as usual at Meadow View, Lymm on Lark Pool. Twenty One anglers turned out for this our last match of the year, the weather was clear blue skies and an air temperature of about five degree's which rapidly dropped to about one degree by late afternoon.
The draw was held and the match fished from 9.30am to 2.30pm. We had another new member turn out today in the shape of Mick Astbury who duly drew Golden Peg, which as you will see from the results didn't do him any favours, as everyone knows there is the 'curse of the Golden Peg'.
To be expected given we have had a few freezing nights and cold days, fishing was tough today with nine out of twenty one anglers not weighing in. Those that did catch used various baits from maggot, pellet and some with meat.
Keeping your eye on the float was difficult for many due to the low sun and its reflection bouncing off the water, although for the lucky few who were in the sun, it made it quite pleasantly warm.
As in previous Winter matches this year we have split the match into two giving us two winners, today they were Mark Whiteside with a great 54lb 10oz and Adam Hill with 25lb 2oz. Golden Peg again remained safe.
We also had the biggest fish so far this season caught by one of our winners Mark Whiteside who hauled in a 14lb Carp. Let's see if that remains or will it be beaten? We will have to wait until next year to find that out.
Just remains for us to say to all of our members, have a great Christmas and New Year, we will do it all again in 2013.
