Second match of 2013 Winter League and this time in the Northern tip of Merseyside near Haskayne at Rosemary Wood.
After traversing the bombsite of a track to get to the fishery we had eighteen members on the match.
We welcomed along new member Neil Pritchard who has been a member for a month or so, but this was his first match today.
The weather started with a light breeze, grey skies and a few spots of rain which soon disappeared shortly after the all-in.
Prior to that match Referee Alan Lamb along with Netsman James Bryan organised the pegging, the draw swiftly followed and all-in was agreed for 10.00am with our usual five hour match duration.
The 'new boy' Neil drew Golden Peg and was good humoured in accepting the challenge, as everyone knows that it is cursed, and five hours later Neil was also to find that out!
The match got underway at 10.00am and the weather continued to improve throughout the day reaching a balmy seventeen degree's with only a light breeze taking the edge off the temperature and it was a pleasant day for all, weatherwise at least.
No major incidents today, the match passed peacefully until the all-out at 3.00pm.
The weigh-in concluded with the announcement of match winners, so well done to James, Mark D and Alan, to Neil P for surviving his first match with us, and having to suffer Golden Peg as well.
No sooner had we packed away than the heavens opened with what was a near biblical thunderstorm. Fortunately we had all just about left site, otherwise it could have been a nightmare on the cart track!
Yet again, it's only one week until our next match at High Heyes Fishery, so look forward to seeing you there.
That's it for now, see you on a match soon...
