Belated notice to all interested parties.
We have now reduced the price of our 2015/16 Club Licence for the remainder of this current licence period (until 15/03/16) from 1st October. So the original bargain price is an absolute steal now! Seniors now priced at £8, OAP £5 and Juniors £3.
So if you fancy fishing, now would be a good time, we have some good fishing on our waters throughout the Autumn and Winter and at these prices, you'd be mad not to!
Don't forget you still need an Environment Agency Rod Licence wherever you fish in the UK if you are aged 12 or over.

NOTE - Pricing came into effect from 01/10/15, so for those of you who purchased at full price from that date on-line, you will be receiving a refund.

Not wanting to confuse our readers. It's that time of year when one season has ended (2014/15), and the new season is about to begin (2015/16). At this time you may see our matches and league pages have changed to accomodate the new season.
So if you are looking for example Spring League 2015, use the buttons to navigate to Spring League, then at the top of that page click on the year you want, and hey presto, there it is.

We start all over again with the 2015/16 season which kicks off at Lathom fishery on Saturday 17th October, hope to see you all there.

Prior to that we have our Prize Night on Friday 9th October at Roosters Club, Warrington starting at 7.30pm. All the trophies will be presented and loads of fun to be had. Our usual hot buffet will again be FREE, all members and their families are welcome. Cost is £5 adults (includes free buffet) and Junior members are free.

After having the second half of our decking replaced earlier in the year at our Brownlee's Pool, today Tom our friendly digger man came in with his machine to do some desilting for us so as to enable all the pegs to be fishable.
As you will see from some of the photo's below our Chairman Frank Davies was on hand to advise.
We will have some seeding to do which will grass over the removed silt once it has drained.

Another cracking Jolly Boys outing took place again this year, this time based in two log cabins in deepest darkest Tewkesbury, had some good fishing sessions and some great fun. Thanks to (in no particular order) Mark Whiteside, Paul Rowlands, Frank & Neil Davies, James & Paul Bryan, Alan Lamb, Adam Hill, Phil Clare, Ken Whibley, Kevin Smith and Jim Bates. As mentioned previously, for technical reasons our 'POHAS Fishing' page on Facebook is no longer accessible to us so any comments etc added will not be responded to.

After days of trying to resolve issue with 'POHAS Fishing' Facebook page and getting nowhere with the service providers, we have bitten the bullet and called time on that page.
Anyone posting comments cannot be viewed or responded to by us, so we have now got a community page.

We ask all our members and those with connections to fishing to search 'Penketh & Old Hall Angling Society', there you will find our community page, once there 'like us' and we can all keep in touch.

Members fishing our match tomorrow at Cheshire Fishing, please be advised that we will now be fishing pools 4 & 5 not 5 & 6 as was advertised.

Apologies for the late notice, we had a telephone call this morning from the owners to advise that some landscaping has been done which has affected pool availability.

Can also confirmed what has been said previously that there are no food facilities on site, so please prepare accordingly.

Just to confirm what we have mentioned in recent POHAS news.
Contractors will start work on site at Brownlee's on Wednesday 6th May to renovate our other pool and replace decking so as it matches the other side.
We apologise for the inconvenience but we hope to have the work completed by the following weekend and members, guests and our local residents will benefit from the enhancements this work will bring to Brownlee's.

You can of course fish our other pool at Whitegate whilst this work is being done.

We will announce here and on our Facebook page when work is completed.

Belated thanks to those who came along on a pleasant Wednesday evening this week to help with our first work party of the year. They included Frank Davies, Neil Davies, Phil Clare, James Bryan, Alisdair Macdonald, Karl Chapman, Jude Chapman, Ken Whibley and myself Paul Bryan.
In the space of one hour we applied weedkiller, removed detritus from the pool and generally tidied up the surrounding area.
Many thanks to all the above for a job well done.

Next Wednesday we are doing the same again at our Brownlee's Pool starting at 6pm. So if you have some time available and would like to help, come along, we will see you there.

A great day was had by all at the second 'Dogs Bollocks' team match. The first having been successful in 2014, we decided to do it again this year!
Four teams of twelve anglers took part in the match held at Partridge Lakes today on three of their pools, Marsh, Spey and Covey 6. The weather even performed with blue skies for much of the day and a light but cool breeze, air temperature got up to about 11 degrees C.
The teams involved were Richmonds, Poplars, Watergate AC and of course ourselves. Congratulations to all of those who picked up money.
Biggest weight came off Spey Canal by Ste Brooks from Richmonds who was on peg 22 (end peg) with a weight of 52lb 0oz. Well done to Ste.
The prestigious team trophy was won by Poplars, in second ourselves, in third Richmonds and in fourth was Watergate AC.
Thanks again to everyone who took part and the great sport in which it was contested. We will do it all again in 2016, so watch this space for details.

Also above two photo's taken in the General Elliott pub from where we nearly got evicted due to some 'Anglo Saxon' language being used, ah well, all good fun!

Yesterday saw club members and those from competing clubs, have a practice ahead of next weeks team match. Thirty three anglers gathered at Partridge Lakes in time for the 8.30am draw. Although the team match next week is on Marsh, Spey and Covey 6, yesterday's practice was only on Covey 6.
As you can see below it was a tough day, even though air temperature was at about 7 degree's for most of the day, the biting Easterly breeze made it feel a lot cooler, and for those who had it in their faces suffered the worst of it.
Our winner Dave Newton had the breeze behind him, which was a plus, as was the calmer waters, well fished none the less.
You can see the results below and to be fair there wasn't as many DNW's as appears, some chose not to weigh in. Can't see them doing that next week!

'Dogs Bollocks 2' takes place next Saturday organised by the winners of last years inaugural match Richmonds. So we look forward to a good match next Saturday, let's hope the weather improves to suit the occasion - Tightlines all.

Notice to members, our new club licence valid from 16th March 2015 until 15th March 2016 will be available on-line from Sunday 1st March 2015.
We will also have them available at our next club meeting which will be held on Thursday 5th March starting at 8.00pm at our usual venue, the Hoop & Mallet Pub, Callands, Warrington.
So to remain a member and remain legal, either of the above are good options.
PLEASE NOTE: Don't purchase licence on-line before 1st March as that will issue the current licence which expires on 15th March.
Licence prices remain as previous, £15 Adult, £10 OAP and £5 Junior (aged under 18 on 16/03/15). No additional charges for purchasing on-line.

JUNIOR MEMBERS - We are pleased to advise that one of our neighbouring clubs Prince Albert Angling Society have organised a series of open matches for 2015 which are free to enter.
