29th December 2017 - In Memory Of Mike Lewis - 1949 - 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of club member and friend Mike Lewis who died suddenly yesterday at his home.
Many of our members will know Mike as a great character who worked tirelessly for the club raising funds.
With his best mates Joe and Peter they were always collecting clothes and cans for recycling raising well over a thousand pounds for the club.
Mike very rarely missed a match, he even attended Junior matches to offer his help to our up and coming Junior members, and eat the food off the BBQ.
A few years ago, Mike was made President of our club for all of his efforts and money raising skills, he will be sadly missed by many both in the club, in the community where he lived and most of all by his family and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
We all have our memories of Mike and they fortunately cannot be taken away.
When we have funeral details and family wishes, we will of course let everyone know.
Rest in peace Mike - Tightlines
24th December 2017 - Seasons Greetings
Well, that's almost another year over and another hectic one!
It only remains for us to thank everyone who has been involved with the club throughout 2017 and there are far to many to mention by name, from members, friends, family, sponsors,our local pub the Hoop & Mallet for hosting our meetings, our Prize Night and supporting our events, as we say the club wouldn't be the club without everyone's help.
That's it for now, we hope to see you all soon, have a great Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year
3rd December 2017 - Partridge Lakes - Match Report
The end of 2017 rapidly approaches and yesterday saw the completion of our 2017 Winter League.
We were at Partridge Lakes on Covey 6 for our last match of the year.
Our 2017 Winter League champion has been crowned as James Bryan (pictured) who amassed 44 points closely followed by Adam Hill who finished in second with 32 points.
It has been another fabulous Winter League with a total of 30 people contesting throughout the series.
Well done to everyone who fished the matches, that's it for 2017, our Spring League starts in early April 2018, before you know it, we'll be there!

16th October 2017 - Winter League - Lingmere - Results
Second match into the new season and today we were at Lingmere,
Ste Openshaw's fishery over on the Wirral.

7th October 2017 - Presentation Night
Last night we held what was our final Presentation Night. This event has taken place every year since 1989, sadly due to the demise of Junior members, it was decided that this will be the last. Not to be downhearted, everyone had a great evening, the usual fishing banter doing the rounds. We would especially like to thank Wayne, Landlord at The Hoop & Mallet pub, for stepping up at short notice to offer the pub for this evening. Our previous hosts decided to close down without notice! Too many thank you's to do, but we must thank our sponsors over the years who have supported us, in particular our Juniors, they are Tommy Horan, Paul Brittlebank, Mike Towney and Wayne @ the Hoop & Mallet. To all the Juniors and parents/grandparents who have supported the kids across the years, some now Seniors and still fishing with us. What the future holds, we don't know, but one sure fact is the club remains and we hope will continue for many years to come. One thank you we forgot, Phil Morris (Sue Nicholson), for providing a buffet for tonight's bash. To Roley aka Paul Rowlands who as ever was our master of ceremonies for the prize giving, done the only way Roley knows how, with humour!

1st October 2017 - 2017/18 Club Licence
As we have the previous couple of years.
From today, 1st October until the end of the current licence period (15/03/18), we have reduced the price of our club licences by up to 50%.
So if you haven't got a club licence and fancy some Autumn/Winter fishing on our pools, now is a good time to get one.
Go to our shop page where you can make your purchase, or purchase on behalf of a family member or friend. We don't charge for postage, just the cost of the licence, which from today is Adults £8, OAP £5 and Juniors £3.
Grab yourself a bargain.
30th September 2017 - Winter League - Lindholme Lakes - Results
Our first Winter match of 2017 held today at Lindholme Lakes and also a
'one-off' coach trip for Winter.

As mentioned yesterday on our Facebook page.Due to circumstances beyond our control, our annual prize night which is being held next Friday 6th October has had to be relocated to The Hoop & Mallet Pub, Callands Road, Warrington. WA5 9RJ.
We are very grateful to Wayne and the staff at the Hoop for allowing us the use of their pub at such short notice.
That said, you will appreciate there is limited space available and will be on a first come first served basis.
Due to the change of venue our 'usual' evenings entertainment won't be happening, however the important bit of presenting trophies and the presenting by Roley (Paul Rowlands) will happen.
We suggest members/families arrive for 7.30am, as we will start presentation at 8.00pm.
Whilst we don't have a buffet, we will be having Pizza served at approximately 9.00pm.
The event is free to enter, we look forward to seeing you and apologies once again for the hasty change of venue which, as mentioned, is beyond our club's control.
28th September 2017 - Midweek League 2018
Notice to members who fish our Midweek matches.
In 2018 we are changing the meeting/match time which we hope will help alleviate the issue of facing rush hour traffic and make travelling to matches a little less stressful.
From 2018 meeting time at venue will be 9.00am, draw at 9.30am and match fishes 11.00am - 4.00pm (subject to match referee's decision).
You will see from the news item below, majority of 2017/18 matches are booked, with a few midweek ones to be confirmed. Keep an eye on our website for updates.
28th September 2017 - Senior Matches 2017-18
At long last we can confirm our Senior matches for the forthcoming 2017/18 season.
Majority of venues based upon members votes at our December and June club meetings.
Hopefully all of our match members are in agreement with us in that we have some great venues booked and something for everyone.
As ever we have three fantastic coach trips, something very few clubs do.
We are still finalising venues and dates for our Midweek League, once we have them, we will update our website and of course our followers on our Facebook pages.

20th September 2017 - Midweek League - Result
Results from our midweek match yesterday at Partridge Lakes on Covey 5.
League is now complete, conratulations to all who fished and to the eventual winner Tony Savage.
Do it all again in 2018.
Next year it is proposed that the start time be moved forward from the current 8am meet.
This will be to eleviate members having to fight rush hour traffic.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MEMBERS FISHING BRADSHAW HALL MATCH THIS SATURDAY 19th August.
Have been advised that there are to be road closures.
On approach to Bradshaw, follow the directions below:-
Coming from A666 (St Peters Way)/Tonge Moor Road. At Bradshaw Road, go through the junction and turn left at the seven stars pub, then follow road to the end.
Turn left on to Watling Street through Affetside to the end of the road.
Turn left onto Tottington Road and then immediately left on to Bradshaw Road by the India Gate Restaurant, follow the road down and fishery is on the right after Jumbles Country Park.

Our latest Summer match held last Saturday 5th August at Blake Hall in Staffordshire.
The result from this match means Alan Lamb is virtually confirmed as Matchman 2016/2017 his points tally after this match with 80 points means he only has to come 10th in either of the last two matches to seal the deal.

Good luck and 'Tightlines' to club member and all round good egg Alan Lamb, who today is competing in the final of Garbolino Club Angler, being held at Barston Lakes, Solihull.

19th July 2017 - Midweek League - Result
Results from our last midweek match held yesterday 18th July at Cat Rough Fishery.
Last Saturday 15th July saw four teams of anglers compete for our Dogs Bollocks trophy which has become a fixture in the calendar with this being the fourth year it has been run and this being the first Summer DB match, also known as 'Sweaty Bollocks'.
After the usual 5 hour match POHAS 1 were the winners, followed by Richmonds, POHAS 2 and finally Marketgate. Thanks to everyone who took part, Partridge Lakes for hosting the match and to all the organisers and contributors.

3rd July 2017 - Summer League, Cobhouse - Results
Our third Summer match and first coach trip of 2017 took place at Cobhouse over last weekend.
18 anglers fished, well done Mark Whiteside on the match win, and hard luck to Alan Lamb who drew Golden Peg finishing second and missing out on £200 by 4lb..

Our first coach trip of the Summer takes place next Saturday 1st July when we will be at Cobhouse Fishery, Worcestershire.
Members fishing this match, remember only one pick up point (Hoop & Mallet) be there for 5.30am.
Also we use fishery nets, so no need to bring your own as they are not allowed.
Also net weight limit is being enforced at this match, so be aware, don't be disappointed!

6th June 2017 - Junior Matches 2017
Quick reminder to our Junior members and any Junior wanting to fish our 2017 Junior league.
First thing, make sure you have a Rod Licence and secondly, make sure you have our 2017/18 Junior club licence.
You can get Rod Licence from Gov.uk website, club licence visit our shop on this website to purchase on-line. Cost for Junior is £5 and to be eligible, you have to be under 18 on 16/03/17.

First match is on 17/06/17 on our Brownlee's Pool and if you didn't know, we have a free BBQ and refreshments for Junior members fishing, so get your licence now, we look forward to seeing you.

6th June 2017 - Midweek League - Match Result
Our latest midweek match took place today at Hall Lane Fishery on Bessies Pool, under very difficult conditions with rain and strong winds making fishing difficult. Well done to the brave souls who took part today, thanks to Tony savage for running the match.

5th June 2017 - Garbolino Club Angler 2017 - Qualifiers
Club members Alan Lamb (pic left) and Rob Healey (pic right), made the journey to Lindholme Lakes on Friday 2nd June where the Northern qualifier for this year's Garbolino Club Angler competition was taking place.
Both anglers represented our club and fought a great battle with many 'local' anglers taking part.
We are pleased to say that Alan got a section win and more importantly qualified for the final being held at Barston Lakes, Solihull later in the Summer.
Commiserations to Rob who missed out on a final place by a mere five pounds. Hard luck Rob, a stirling effort nonetheless.
Our second match in this seasons Midweek League took place today at Blundell's Farm on East Canal.

11th May 2017 - Spring League - Lingmere Fishery 14/05/17
Only a couple of days to go and it's our third and final Spring League match.
A new venue for us and an alternate day! Lingmere on Sunday 14th May.
For members fishing this match it's pretty easy to get to, I typed in postcode and my satnav took me right to the entrance.
Shortest route takes you via Kingsway tunnel in Liverpool, so gonna cost you £1.70 each way in a car.
Also as Frank and I (Paul) will not be attending, Alan Lamb and James Bryan are running the match. We would appreciate if ALL MEMBERS show respect and give the lads chance to get sorted, this is pretty much a first for them, so your understanding is appreciated. Of course, make sure you are there for 8.00am, food and bait available, any queries, contact the fishery 0151 677 7911 or 07766 651817.
Final note - This match is fully subscribed, so if you are not already booked on, apologies but no room for additional anglers, sorry.

6th May 2017 - Brownlee's Work Party
Thanks to our members and non-member who turned out for a bit of graft this morning at our Brownlee's Pool.
We had three tonnes of surfacing material delivered to re-cover the paths around both pools. We still have a bit more to do, so another bag will be ordered to finish it off. Must say it looking a whole lot better!

We are undertaking a work party at our Brownlee's Pool on Wednesday 12th April meeting on site at 6.00pm.
This work is a general tidy up and should last no more than an hour, club members/friends who are able to help, we would be pleased to see you.
Please wear old clothes and if you have usual tidy up implements such as a rake, spade, brush, gloves, bring them along.

4th April 2017 - April Club Meeting
Quick note to remind members that our monthly club meeting takes place this Thursday at 8.00pm at the Hoop & Mallet Pub, Callands.

31st March 2017 - Upcoming Match Information
Good afternoon anglers/members.
It can't have escaped your notice that we are only a week away from the start of our 2017 Spring League.
This is just a polite reminder to anglers about match etiquette and anglers fishing to arrive at the venue for 8.00am so as we can sort pegging, do draw and get match off on time and account for everyone fishing.
If you have paid a bond, or are paying monthly and you can't make the match, let us know Wednesday prior to match date
If late notice, tell us before the 8.00am on matchday either phone/text etc as soon as you can (not whilst driving).Failing to attend or being late without prior notification may mean you forfeit £10 match fee. Your support on this matter is appreciated. Our contact details are in licence and here on website.
21st March 2017 - Dogs Bollocks Match 2017
Last Saturday 18th March saw 48 anglers from four clubs compete for our Dogs Bollocks trophy which has become a fixture in the calendar with this being the fourth year it has been run.
It was a tough day weatherwise which made fishing even more difficult.
All anglers stuck it out with only one DNW, so well done to everyone who fished with great spirit.
After five hours of windbashing we are pleased to say that our POHAS team won the match by several points, for a second year in a row. Thanks to Richmonds, Poplars and Marketgate for making it a great match.

3rd March 2017 - Club Licences 2017/18
Due to popular demand, our 2017/18 Club Licence is now available to order on-line.
This licence comes into effect from 16/03/17, so before you forget, visit our shop and get your licence. Prices remain the same, £15 Adult, £10 OAP and £5 Juniors.
There is no additional cost to pay ordering on-line and postage is free of charge.
Oh, and don't forget after 31st March you will need a new Rod Licence, also available on-line from the 'Gov.uk website'. Or from a branch of your local Post Office.
24th January 2017 - In Memory of Dorothy 'Dotty' Dagnall
We were saddened to hear over the weekend of the passing of Dorothy Dagnall, or as us fishing folk knew
her,
'Dot'.
Dot with husband John and Daughter Helen, ran Cheshire Angling in Latchford for several years and was well known in the local fishing community.
We would like to send our deepest sympathies to John, Helen and family at this sad time.
Dot's funeral is to be held at Walton Lea Crematorium on Friday 3rd February 2017 at 12.20pm, and afterwards at Woolston Legion on Manchester Road, Warrington.
Family flowers only, any donations to be made to Diabetes UK.

Observant readers may notice the first match in Winter League is Lindholme Lakes - Yes folks, we are doing a Winter coach trip!
At the moment this is a one off event and a thank you from the club to our match anglers who support us. Even better news, this coach trip is only a tenner! Yes, you read it right a tenner, and this is a one off, so put a note in your diary for this match.
In this instance, and only this instance, if any member wants to fish the match but travel in their own car (Dunno why you would for a tenner) you can.
Being repetitive I know, but the tenner cost and use of own car if you choose, applies to this Winter coach trip only, and NOT our regular Summer trips.
15th January 2017 - In Memory of Jim Morris - 1936 - 2017
RIP to friend and former club member Jim Morris who sadly passed away earlier today.
Jim was a great character,
born in Warrington and came fishing with his lads Paul and Phil and Phil's partner Sue.
He loved a sing song, and was more than happy to give us his rendition of 'Mack the Knife'.
RIP Jim, thinking of you and your family, Jane, Phil, Paul, partners and grandchildren at this sad time, but we had some laughs and that's what we will always remember.
